Vice-Admiral (retired) Theobald Walter Butler Kennedy, C.M.G., R.N. (12 December, 1871 – 12 August, 1934) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Kennedy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1893.

Kennedy was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1904.

Kennedy was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1910.

He assumed command of the first class protected cruiser Royal Arthur in 1913.

He was appointed in command of the light cruiser Lowestoft on 20 November, 1913[1] and was in her at the outbreak of war.[2]

Post-War

Kennedy was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 5 July, 1921 and was placed on the Retired List at his own request the following day.

Kennedy was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 25 October, 1926.

Kennedy was admitted to Haslar Hospital on 15 June, 1934, diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. He died there on 12 August.
