Commander R.N.R. (retired) Samuel Bolton, D.S.C., R.D. (25 October, 1872 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Born in Eccles, Lancashire.
Bolton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 11 December, 1907.
Bolton was appointed to the armed merchant cruiser Cedric in December, 1914 and was awarded a D.S.C. for his work as a Prize Officer and Boarding Officer, "often under most trying and dangerous conditions."
Bolton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 11 December, 1915.
Post-War
Bolton was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. (retired) with a seniority date of 31 March, 1919.
