Lieutenant R.N.R. (temporary) Rudolph Lancelot Wikner, D.S.C. ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Wikner came from Bridlington. On 14 September 1914 he was appointed to the Cromarty Minesweeping Flotilla as a Temporary Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R..[1]

Wikner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 14 January, 1915. On the 19th, he was appointed to the trawler Stephen Furness.[2]

He served in Thalia from 9 March to 1 December 1916.[3]

Wikner was a gunner in Cotswold from January 1917 before he was appointed in command in February.[4]

Wikner was demobilised on 5 October 1919. He was evaluated as "above average", but lacking in knowledge of the service.[5]
