Captain Robin Wynell Mayow Lloyd, D.S.O., R.N. (14 February, 1884 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Market Drayton, possibly the son of a Lieutenant [illeg] Lloyd.
Lloyd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1905.[1]
On 22 May 1908, he injured his right eye in fencing training at Portsmouth Barracks, and received a Hurt Certificate.[2]
On 29 January 1910, he was admitted to Plymouth Hospital to be treated for a dislocated left shoulder. He was declared fit on 23 February.[3]
Lloyd was faulted in a 1911 collision between Ranger and the Spit Refuge Buoy, for he had not made sufficient allowance for tide.[4]
Lloyd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1913.[5]
Lloyd was appointed in command of the destroyer Narwhal on 28 May, 1918. He involved his ship in a collision while leaving [illeg] at 915am on 3 October, 1918. He was told to exercise more caution in the future.[6]
Lloyd was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1918. He served as executive officer in the pre-dreadnought battleship Cæsar from 19 February to 29 August, 1919.[7]
On 23 July, 1920, Lloyd was appointed in command of the destroyer Tenacious.[8][9]
Lloyd was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 1 November 1922 and was promoted to the rank of Captain on 14 February, 1929.[10]
World War II
Lloyd was granted the acting rank of Captain dated 10 November, 1939.[11]
