Vice-Admiral (retired) Robert Sidney Rolleston, R.N. (15 September, 1849 – 16 March, 1926) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Rolleston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 23 September, 1873.[1]

Rolleston was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 5 on 16 June, 1884, for manoeuvres.[2]

On 13 November 1885, he was appointed in command of Seaflower. On 23 May 1887, she grounded on a shoal, but no blame was attached to Rolleston.[3]

Rolleston was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1888. He was superseded in command of Seaflower on 1 September, 1888[4]

Rolleston was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1895.[5]

On 25 June, 1901, Rolleston was appointed in command of Nile. Rolleston was appointed in command of the battleship Royal Oak in February, 1903.

Retired due to age on 15 September 1904.

Rolleston was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 20 February, 1906 and then to Vice-Admiral on 22 July, 1920.[8]
