Captain R.N.R. Robert Melvill Gardner, R.N.R., Retired (16 August, 1878 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve who received an inordinate number of command appointments of small vessels during the Great War.

Life & Career

Gardner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 23 July, 1910.

Gardner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 12 August, 1918.

Gardner was appointed in command of the destroyer Waveney on 14 October, 1918.[1]

Post-War

He was appointed in command of the patrol boat PC 74 on 14 December, 1918.[2]

Gardner was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1922.

Gardner was retired at the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 16 August, 1928.
