Vice-Admiral SIR Richard Hayden Owen Lane-Poole, C.B., K.B.E., R.N. (1 April, 1883 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Richmond, the son of Professor Stanley Lane-Poole, Author, Trinity College, Dublin.

Lane-Poole was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 September, 1904.

Lane-Poole was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1912.

Lane-Poole was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1916.

Post-War

Lane-Poole was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1923.

Lane-Poole was appointed in command of the light cruiser Cambrian in December, 1927.

Lane-Poole was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 May, 1935. He was lent to the Royal Australian Navy on 21 February, 1936 and became Rear-Admiral Commanding, H.M. Australian Naval Service from April, 1936 to April, 1938.

World War II

Lane-Poole was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 11 January, 1939 and was placed on the Retired List the next day.
