The Order in Council of 3 March, 1900, was a piece of legislation affecting the retirement of Flag Officers of the Royal Navy.

Order in Council

WHEREAS by Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 16th June 1895, the provision that the period on non-service entailing the compulsory retirement of Flag Officers should be reduced from Ten to Seven Years, was made applicable only to Flag Officers coming on the List after that date:

And whereas we are of opinion that it is desirable, in the interests of Your Majesty's Service, to allow Officers who were on the Flag List before the date of such Order in Council, the option of retiring after the period of non-service:

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to authorise us to place on the Retired List after a period of Seven Years' non-service, any Officer who was on the Flag List before the date of Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 16th July 1895, and who may be desirous of retirement.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
