Captain (retired) Norman Malet Colquhoun Thurstan, D.S.O., R.N. (13 September, 1882 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Wells.

Thurstan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1904.

Thurstan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1912.

Thurstan was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1916.

Thurstan was appointed in command of the hired yacht Beryl from 23 August, 1918 through 24 March, 1919.

Thurstan was appointed in command of the fishery protection ship Exe (the former trawler Thomas Jarvis) from 30 November, 1921 to 1 January, 1924.

Thurstan was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Captain on 18 December, 1928.
