Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Michael Edmund East, (22 March, 1893 – 1 January, 1936) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Reverend Arthur East.

East was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1914.

Awarded the Royal Humane Society's Bronze Medal for saving the life of a seaman in 1915 by jumping into the sea from S.S. Southland.

East was was appointed to Tiger on 1 October 1915 and served in her as a Turret Officer in "Q" turret at the Battle of Jutland. He stayed in the ship until being removed as sick on 11 January 1918. He was retired as physically unfit in February.

East was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 15 October, 1922.
