Admiral Loftus Francis Jones, Royal Navy (19 July, 1836 – 22 June, 1912) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Jones entered the Navy in 1849.

Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1857 and served in Termagant and Marlborough, and then in the Imperieuse and Chesapeake as flag lieutenant to his uncle, Admiral Sir Lewis Tobias Jones.

Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1861.

Jones was promoted to the rank of Captain on 4 April, 1870.[1]

Jones was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral dated 5 April, 1892, vice Ward.[2] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 26 December, 1897, vice Rowley.[3]

He retired at his own request in 1899.
