Crabbe was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1922.[9]

Crabbe served as Senior Naval Officer, Persian Gulf, first in command of the old hired yacht Triad and then, from March, 1933, in command of the sloop Shoreham. He was superseded in his role in the Persian Gulf in April, 1933.[10]

Crabbe was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 28 February, 1934.[11]

Crabbe was granted permission to wear the U.S. Navy Cross, which he was awarded in recognition of his services to assist the survivors of the American gunboat Panay when she was sunk in the Yangtze River by Japanese air attack in December, 1937. He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 17 June, 1938.[12]

Crabbe was posthumously promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 5 November, 1957.[13]
