Captain R.N.R. Kingsley Gordon Howe, D.S.C., R.D. (31 August, 1884 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Howe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 17 September, 1914.[1]

Early in 1918, Howe grounded Orwell and received and expression of the Admiralty's displeasure. However, he was mentioned in despatches on 14 March 1918 and was appointed in command of the patrol boat PC 66 on 23 March, 1918.[2]

On 10 October 1918, Howe was again mentioned in despatches and received strong commendation from the Admiral Commanding Orkneys and Shetlands for how he conducted "certain operations". The Admiralty expressed its appreciation for his attack on an enemy submarine.[3]

Post-War

Howe was promoted to the rank of Acting Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 31 December, 1918. He was demobilised on 12 February, 1919 and on 23 April he was awarded the D.S.C..[4]

Howe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 17 September, 1922.[5]

Howe was awarded an R.D. on 2 May 1924.

Howe was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1926.[6]

Howe was promoted to the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 30 June, 1933.[7]
