Rear Admiral John Walter Wilcox, Jr., (22 March, 1882 – 27 March, 1942) served in the United States Navy.

Life & Career

Wilcox was lost overboard from U.S.S. Washington while en route to Scapa Flow. He had been seen walking unaccompanied on the deck without a coat with high seas. A search aircraft crashed with two dead, and his body was sighted from a destroyer, but was not recovered. Investigation considered ideas of accident, suicide, heart attack, and even foul play, but no determination could be reached.
