Commander (retired) John Pollington Apps, D.S.C. (9 February, 1897 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve and the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Apps was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 9 November, 1919.[1]

Apps was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 9 November, 1927.[2]

On 8 January, 1932 Apps was placed in command of Group "Y" Submarines in Reserve at Portsmouth, which was then three "L" class boats.[3] On 1 June, 1933, he was placed in command of a different group of submarines in reserve under H.M.S. Pigmy that I have yet to identify.[4] This assignment lasted just one month.

Later in 1933 he reverted to General Service, rather than Submarine Service. He was appointed to Effingham, additional, on 18 December, 1933.[5]

Apps was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 18 January, 1934 and promoted to the rank of Commander on 9 February, 1937.
