Commander (retired) John Pollington Apps, D.S.C. (9 February, 1897 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve and the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Apps was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 9 November, 1919.
Apps was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 9 November, 1927.
On 8 January, 1932 Apps was placed in command of Group "Y" Submarines in Reserve at Portsmouth, which was then three "L" class boats.[1] On 1 June, 1933, he was placed in command of a different group of submarines in reserve that I have yet to identify.[2]
Apps was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 18 January, 1934 and promoted to the rank of Commander on 9 February, 1937.
World War II
D.S.C. for his work on Norway landings.
