Vice-Admiral John George Mostyn Field, R.N., Retired (11 October, 1849 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Field was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 8 April, 1873.[1]

Field was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1888.[2]

On 31 May, 1895, a fever struck him mightily, requiring him to quit command of Scout.[3]

While still invalided, Field was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1895.[4]

He was found fit on 16 March, 1896 and in September went to a Signals course in Portsmouth.[5]
