Admiral John Corbett (15 July, 1822 – 10 December, 1893) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Corbett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 4 May, 1846.

Gazetted for "most gallant conduct at the capture of Lagos", and invalided due to his wounds, Corbett was promoted to the rank of Commander on 20 February, 1852.[1]

Corbett was promoted to the rank of Captain on 10 August, 1857.

Corbett was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 20 April, 1875.[2]

Corbett was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 2 August, 1879.[3]

On 30 October, 1884 he hoisted his flag as Commander-in-Chief, the Nore. On 1 July, 1885 he struck his flag in Duncan on being superseded.[4]

In 7 April, 1885 Corbett was promoted to Admiral.[5]

On 15 July 1887, Corbett was retired on account of age.
