Vice-Admiral John Collings-Taswell Glossop, C.B., R.N. (23 October, 1871 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Glossop was appointed in command of the battleship Hood on 1 September, 1910.

He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 22 June, 1911.

Great War

Glossop commanded the Australian light cruiser Sydney and successfully brought the German raider Emden to action and destroyed her off the Cocos Islands.[1]

Post-war

Glossop was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral dated 20 November, 1921, vice Marshall, and was placed on the Retired List on the following day.[2]
