Vice-Admiral SIR James Murray Pipon, K.B.E., C.B., C.M.G., O.B.E., R.N. (25 October, 1882 – ?) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Captain J. P. Pipon, R.N. was born in Kent. He underwent examinations for in July, 1897 and gained entrance to Britannia's term of August, 1897, his 1332 marks placing him eighteenth among the sixty-three candidates accepted as naval cadets.[1]

Pipon was promoted to Lieutenant on 31 August, 1904.

Pipon was promoted to Lieutenant-Commander on 31 August, 1912.[2]

He was appointed to Penelope on 20 November, 1914, where he served under Captain Hubert Lynes.[3]

Pipon was promoted to Commander on 30 June, 1915.[4]

He was appointed to Lowestoft on 2 April, 1918 as Flag Commander and for War Staff duties.[5]

Pipon was promoted to Captain on 31 August, 1920.

Pipon was promoted to Rear-Admiral on 20 October, 1932.

Pipon was promoted to Vice-Admiral on 11 December, 1936 and placed on the Retired List the following day.
