{{CaptRN} (retired) Hugh Davenport Colville (1 January, 1881 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Colville was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 26 June, 1902.[1]

Colville was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 26 June, 1910.[2]

Colville was appointed in command of the minelaying submarine Porpoise on 24 January, 1914.[3] He was her captain at the Battle of Jutland, operating as part of the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla.[4]

Colville was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1915.[5]

He was appointed in command of the flotilla leader Gabriel on 14 June, 1918.[6]

Colville was appointed in command of the flotilla leader Mackay on 9 July, 1920.[7]

Colville was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 1 November, 1922 and was to be eligible for a step in rank at age 45. Accordingly, he was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 January, 1926.[8]

Colville changed his last name to Wakeman-Colville in 1927.[9]
