Captain Howard Douglas Bode (23 January, 1889 – 20 April, 1943) served in the United States Navy.

Life & Career

Upon learning he was to be officially censured for his command decisions as Commanding Officer of the heavy cruiser Chicago during the disastrous Battle of Savo Island, Bode shot himself in Panama City on 20 April, 1943.
