Commander Herbert du Cane Luard, R.N. (25 March, 1870 – 21 February, 1919) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

A son of Vice-Admiral (later Admiral) W. G. Luard.

Luard was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 July, 1890.

Luard was specially promoted to the rank of Commander for service in China on 9 November, 1900.

Luard took the new sloop Cadmus out to the China Station, arriving at Chinkiang on 19 September, 1905.[1]

In August 1914 he was lent to Devonport Naval Centre. This appears to be work in the Western Coast Guard District.
