Admiral Herbert James Ogilvy Millar, Royal Navy, Retired (3 February, 1866 – 6 June, 1934) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Millar was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1888.[1]

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1899.[2]

Captain

Millar was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1905.[3]

On 30 May, 1908, he was appointed in command of the armoured cruiser Essex.[4]

Millar was appointed Captain of the Royal Naval College, Greenwich on 8 December, 1910.[5]

He was appointed command of the pre-dreadnought Africa on 10 April, 1913.[6]

Millar was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 26 April, 1917.[7] He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 27 April.[8]

Retirement

He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 6 April, 1922.[9] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on 25 October, 1926.[10]
