Born in Brompton, the son of J. A. Hardy, medical practitioner.
Hardy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 July, 1905.
Hardy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 July, 1913.
Hardy was promoted to the rank of Flight Commander on 2 September, 1916.
Hardy was promoted to the rank of Squadron Commander in June 1917.
Hardy was promoted to the rank of Commander on 23 April, 1918.
Post-War
Hardy was placed on the Retired List upon the expiration of his foreign service leave on 10 February, 1926 and was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 1 December, 1929.
