Lieutenant-Commander Henry John Hearn, R.N. (5 June, 1885 – 31 January, 1918 ) was a submarine officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Bridge House, Bridge Street, Shrewsbury the son of H. J. Hearn, Hearn gained three months' time on passing out of Britannia.
Hearn was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1906.
Following a three year appointment in command of C 19, Hearn was appointed to the battleship Hercules on 15 August, 1912 and served in her until being appointed to Maidstone for submarines on 20 April, 1915.
Hearn was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1914.
Hearn died on 31 January, 1918 when his K 17 was sunk in the tragic Battle of May Island.[1]
