Captain (retired) Henry Ioan Montagu Lawrence Scott, R.N. (7 September, 1885 – 13 April, 1944) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Scott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 July, 1907[1]
He was appointed to Tartar as first Lieutenant on 10 September, 1909.
Scott was appointed in command of the destroyer Brazen on 23 July, 1912.[2]
Great Waw
Scott was appointed Lieutenant in Command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 31 on 29 July, 1914.[3]
Scott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 July, 1915[4]
On 11 October, 1916, Scott was appointed in command of the destroyer Oriana.[5]
Post-War
Scott was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1920.[6]
Scott married Evelyn Mary Mure on 25 October, 1923 at the Church of the Annunciation in Bryanston.[7]
Scott's last appointment to command appears illegible in his service record, but may have been to Greenwich for a group of something, appointed on 17 February, 1931 and discharged on 26 June, 1931. He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 6 January, 1932 with the rank of Captain.[8]
He was appointed as Family Welfare Officer, Royal Naval Barracks, Devonport on 1 April, 1936, initially on a probationary basis.
Scott was admitted to Royal Naval Hospital, Plymouth on 9 March 1944 with jaundice. He died on the 13th of April of myocardial failure and obstructive jaundice.[9]
