Captain Henry George Homer Adams, C.B.E., R.N. (10 April, 1879 – 28 February, 1960) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Lancaster, the son of Charles E. Adams, Clerk in Holy Orders.

Adams was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1901.[1]

Adams broke a rib in March, 1910 when a coaling derrick broke due to his own error in judgment. He was fit again on 8 April.

Adams was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1913.

Adams was appointed to the new Barham as navigating officer from her commissioning in 1915 until September 1918.

Adams was promoted to Captain on 30 June 1918, and assumed command of the first class protected cruiser Endymion on 24 December, 1918.[2]

He was appointed in command of the light cruiser Aurora, in Canadian service, in 1920 and served there until 10 September 1922 when he reverted to R.N. service.

Adams was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 2 July, 1922.[3]

World War II

Adams served as the Naval Representative on Joint Recruiting Board of University of Sheffield from 31 August, 1939 to 4 November, at which time he reverted to the Retired List.

Adams died on 28 February, 1960 at Cheltenham at the age of eighty.[4]
