Rear-Admiral (retired) Henry Compton Anderson Baynes, Royal Navy (19 October, 1852 – 7 July, 1922) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Baynes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 January, 1877.[1]

In July, 1883, Baynes was awarded a second-class certificate at the Royal Naval College as gunnery lieutenant.[2]

On 6 December 1889, Baynes was appointed to Neptune for gunnery duties.

Baynes was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1890.[3]

Baynes was promoted to the rank of Captain on 22 June, 1897.[4]

Bayne was placed on the Retired List on 9 December, 1902 in accordance with provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870 and promoted to Rear-Admiral on 1 April, 1907.[5]

Baynes died at Wimbledon on 7 July, 1922, as reported in The Times on 10 July.
