Hartley Russell Gwennap Moore
Captain Hartley Russell Gwennap Moore, C.B.E., R.N. (18 April, 1881 – 26 December, 1953) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career
Born in Launcester.
Moore was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1903.
Moore was selected to qualify for torpedo lieutenant in 1905.
In November, 1909, Moore was awarded the Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal.
Moore would come to specialise in wireless communications. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 March, 1911 as he worked at the Gibraltar W/T station. Leaving that post in mid-January 1912, he was appointed to King Edward VII, additional, for W/T duties with third and fourth divisions of Home Fleet. Similar work followed and Moore was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1914.
Moore found himself on the staff of V/A Burney in H.M.S. Lord Nelson when war broke out, and followed him to the newer battleship Marlborough on 19 December, 1914.
In April 1917, he was to transfer to Revenge upon transfer of flag – once again providing help with wireless systems on the staff of Charles Madden. This lasted just one month before he was put ashore to an appointment with the Trade Division.
Post-War
Moore served out the remaining portion of the war with the Trade Division. In mid-January 1919 he was appointed in command of the seaplane carrier Nairana.
From 11 March, 1920 to July 1921 Moore commanded the battlecruiser New Zealand in reserve at Rosyth.
Moore was appointed Superintendent of Mine Design on 15 November, 1922.
Moore was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 18 April, 1927, but continued to work in his Mine Design post until 18 April, 1935.
