Vice-Admiral (retired) Harry Rowlandson Godfrey, C.B., D.S.O. (11 October, 1875 – 17 February, 1947) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1898.[1]

Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1909.[2]

Godfrey was appointed in command of the destroyer Beagle on 1 February, 1913.

Great War

Godfrey showed great courage in sweeping mines and patrolling inside the Dardanelles and in assisting the embarcation at Cata Telex on April 25/26, 1915.[3]

Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1915.[4]

Godfrey was appointed in command of the flotilla leader Vampire on 2 October, 1917.

Post-War
