Captain (retired) Harry Christopher Shaw Rawson, R.N. (21 February, 1878 – 14 February, 1948) served in the Royal Navy. He was the son of Admiral Sir Harry H. Rawson.

Life & Career

Rawson was born in Birkenhead.

Rawson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 August, 1900.[1]

On 18 September, 1905, he was appointed to serve as Aide-de-Camp at Half-Pay to his father.[2]

Rawson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 August, 1908.[3]

He retired at his own request on 12 March, 1909.[4]

The Great War

Rawson was appointed for coaling duties at Scapa Flow on 14 August, 1914. In September, he was moved down to ply the same services at Dover as Assistant Coaling Officer. He was next appointed, on 18 March, 1916, to be Officer in Charge of Motor Transport Service, Dover as well as Assistant Coaling Officer, Dover, with the rank of Acting Commander.[5]

Rawson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 21 February, 1918 and, with the war over, reverted to the Retired List on 15 March, 1919.[6]

Rawson was promoted to the rank of Captain on the Retired List on 21 February, 1923.[7]
