Rear-Admiral Harold Gordon Cooper Franklin (15 January, 1885 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of surgeon G. C. Franklin.

Franklin was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 65 on 3 or 8 May, 1906.[1][2]

Franklin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 November, 1906. On 22 January, 1907, he grounded T.B. 65 through a "want of judgment" and was cautioned.[3]

On 10 March 1914, Franklin left Neptune for Iron Duke, and it would be in battleships where he would fight the war.

Franklin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 November, 1914.[4]

He would serve in her through to 25 January, 1917, when he was appointed to Queen Elizabeth in which he would be promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1917. He joined Lion upon being superseded in Queen Elizabeth on 7 January, 1918.[5]

Franklin was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1925.[6]

In 1928, "recent events in Kuwait" drew great credit upon Franklin.

Franklin was appointed in command of the light cruiser Curacoa in July, 1929.

Franklin was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 12 July, 1936 and placed on the Retired List the following day.[7]
