Paymaster Rear-Admiral SIR Hamnet Holditch Share, K.B.E., C.B., C.V.O., Royal Navy (19 May, 1864 – 26 June, 1937) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War, when he served as secretary to Sir John R. Jellicoe as Commander-in-Chief, Grand Fleet and as "Additional Naval Assistant" when Jellicoe served as First Sea Lord.

Early Life & Career

He was promoted to the rank of Paymaster dated 9 June, 1898.[1]

On 27 November, 1903, Share was promoted to the rank of Staff Paymaster with seniority of 9 June, 1902.[2]

Share was promoted to the rank of Fleet Paymaster on 9 June, 1906.[3]

Share was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January, 1916.[4] He was promoted to the rank of Paymaster-in-Chief on 1 January, 1917.[5]

On 16 April, 1920, Share was appointed a Knight Commander of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.), "For valuable services as Secretary to Admiral of the Fleet Viscount Jellicoe of Scapa, G.C.B., O.M., G.C.V.O."[6]
