H.M. T.B. 26 (1885)
Builder: John I. Thornycroft & Company[1]
Launched: 1885[2]
Sold: 1919[3]
H.M. T.B. 26 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.

Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 026.[4]

Construction

Yard No. 218.[5] Like all Thornycroft 125-footers, she was built with a low "bull nose" bow that included a fixed torpedo tube that proved "totally unseaworthy" and was ultimately rebuilt with a conventional straight steam without a torpedo tube.[6]

Service

She participated in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1894 as one of three boats in the Waterford Division of the Blue Side.[7]

In 1895, she was one of twenty-three T.B.s of at least 125 feet in length stationed in Portsmouth along with four smaller T.B.s..[8] Sold to Maden & McKee on 2 October, 1919.[9]
