H.M. T.B. 116 was one of thirteen first-class torpedo boats of the 160 Footer class.

Service

T.B. 116 sighted an enemy submarine at a range of 1200 yards off Culver Cliff of the Isle of Wight at mid-day on October 14, 1914 while operating as part of the Portsmouth Local Defence Flotilla and charged at her, firing. The submarine was nearly rammed before it slipped under the waves. This was one of several incidents which sparked Admiralty concern over the safety of cross-Channel convoys.[4]
