H.M.S. Westminster was one of twenty-one "W" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.

Service

Commissioned on 14 April, 1918.[7]

She and several sister ships were re-commissioned at Port Edgar on 27 September, 1923 to serve with the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla as part of the Atlantic Fleet. This formation assignment would last until at least mid-1931.[8]

The ship was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 3 May, 1926.[9]

Westminster was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 1 January 1929.[10]

She re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 27 April, 1931 for continued service with the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla.[11] She remained with them into at mid-1934 after that formation became attached to Home Fleet, being re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 4 May, 1933.[12]
