H.M.S. W 4 was one of four "W" class submarines built by Armstrong, Whitworth & Company andgiven to Italy in August, 1916.

Service

Paid off for the first time on 7 August, 1916[7] as she transferred into Italian service as W 4.[8]

In Italian hands, W 4 was lost between 4 and 6 August 1917, perhaps to an Austrian mine off Cape Rodoni.[9]
