H.M.S. Vendetta was one of twenty-five "V" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.

Service

Vendetta was commissioned on 4 October, 1917[6] and was assigned to the Thirteenth Destroyer Flotilla that same month. As part of that formation, she screened and supported the Grand Fleet through the end of the war.[7]

She was re-commissioned on 6 June, 1924 at Portsmouth for service with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[8]

Vendetta was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 25 January, 1927 for service with the First Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[9]

Paid off into Dockyard Control at Chatham on 1 October, 1930.[10]

The destroyer was paid off at Portsmouth and commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy as H.M.A.S. Vendetta on 11 October 1933.

The ship was commissioned at Sydney on 10 October 1934.[11]
