H.M.S. Starling was one of 11 gunboats of the Banterer class.

Service

Commissioned at Sheerness on 22 August, 1882 for service in the Mediterranean.[3]

The vessel participated in the Jubilee Naval Review and possibly the Annual Manoeuvres of 1897 under the command of Chief Officer J. S. Gale.[4]
