H.M.S. Philomel was one of nine cruisers of the Pearl class completed for the Royal Navy in 1891 and 1892.

Service

Philomel re-commissioned at Aden on 4 October, 1911 for service in the East Indies.[6]

She re-commissioned "abroad" on 20 April, 1917.[7]

She re-commissioned in Wellington, New Zealand on 1 March, 1921. By March 1925 she was serving as a training and depot ship at Auckland.Template:NLJan25
