Service
At some point in her service as a Q-ship, PC 56 was fitted with a rather convincing false bow that converted her appearance to that of a merchant steamer; the lines aft were less complete in their disguise.[5]
On 5 November 1917, PC 56 collided with P 62. A Court of Enquiry on the 8th resulted in Lieutenant R.N.R. in Command W. A. Florence being cautioned to be more careful in future.[6]
PC 56 rammed, shelled, and depth charged U 87 in the Irish Sea on 25 December, 1917, sinking her with all hands.[7][8]
Recommissioned on 13 January, 1920.[9]
