H.M.S. Onyx was completed as a torpedo gunboat, but was converted along with her sister Hebe to submarine depot ship before the Great War.

Service

Onyx converted to a depot ship in 1908.[5]

She served with the First Submarine Flotilla at Devonport 1914-16, then as a base ship at Torbay in 1917 and 1918.[6]
