Norseman joined the Thirteenth Destroyer Flotilla in November, 1916.[6]

She transferred to the Fourteenth Destroyer Flotilla in February 1918 with five other of the Thirteenth's "M" class destroyers.[7]

In 1918, one of her torpedoes ran hot in its tube, but it was pushed back into the tube and the stop valve was closed.[8]

She was reduced to C. & M. Party on 15 March, 1920.[9]
