H.M.S. L 33 was one of thirty-five "L" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In 1925, she was part of Fourth Submarine Flotilla on the China Station. Lieutenant Geoffrey Healey is listed with her, but not expressly as being "in command."[6]

On 9 March 1926 while under the command of Lt. Lewis B. A. Majendie‎, she collided with the Chinese steamship Yen Sing.[7]
