H.M.S. L 27 was one of thirty-five "L" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

From at least mid-1927[6] to at least early 1929, she was with the Fourth Submarine Flotilla on the China Station.[7]

Completed to full complement at Chatham on 20 January, 1931. By mid-1931, she had been transferred to the Second Submarine Flotilla,[8] where she remained until at least October 1935.[9]

By mid-1937, she was with the Sixth Submarine Flotilla.[10]
