H.M.S. Kempton was one of thirty-two Ascot Class paddle minesweepers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Kempton was sunk with the loss of four lives in a minefield in the Dover Strait. The destroyer Tartar was heavily damaged in the same field, and the paddle sweeper Redcar was also sunk.[7]
