H.M.S. Canning was a hired transport in the Royal Navy from May 1915 before being purchased on 28 June, 1915. Eventually, she was used as a kite balloon ship.

Service

Served in the Mediterranean in 1915-16. Worked from Scapa Flow in 1916-18 before being assigned to the Flying Squadron in November, 1918.[1]
