H.M.S. Ambrose was a civilian vessel hired as an A.M.C. in 1914, but then purchase for use as a depot ship.
Service
Ambrose served submarines at Berehaven 1917-18 before moving to Falmouth in 1918.[5]

- Commander Cecil P. Talbot, 19 September, 1918, and for command of Ambrose's Flotilla.[6]
- Commander Robert R. Turner, May, 1920, as Commander (S)[7]
