Construction & Service
Amazon, along with Template:UK-1Pallas participated in the first-ever joint celebration of American independence to occur in an English port on 4 July 1866 in Portsmouth Harbour alongside the American steam screwship Augusta.[4]
Amazon left Spithead a "perfectly new ship" capable of nearly 12.5 knots for Nova Scotia to take up service on the North American Station and was lost in a collision with the private screw steamer Osprey in the English Channel.[5]
